Work Information
Responsible
for overseeing the development, implementation and monitoring of the
District's Equity initiatives; which promote the District's goal of
proficiency for all students.
Key Responsibilities
-
Chairperson and facilitator of Equity Steering Committee.

Work
collaboratively with Freeport African American Ministers United for
Change (FAAMUC) and the community at large on equity matters.

Collect, analyze and report data on equity programs and student performance.

Develop and implement programs to address disparities.

Coordinate all program and school reports to the Equity Steering Committee.

Annual presentation of Equity Data to the Freeport School District and the Community.

Coordinate Family Resource Coordinators Program.

Work
collaboratively with the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and
Director of Human Resources to develop staff development plans.

Develop, monitor and ensure appropriate execution of the Equity budget.

Chairperson and facilitator of District's Discipline Committee.

Biographical Information
Teresa
Hines began as our Director of Equity in September 2004. Teresa's
previous experience includes three years as an elementary school
principal and two years as a middle school assistant principal. Before
going into administration Teresa was a classroom teacher for several
years. She started her career as an educator in 1992. Prior to this she
worked in Strategic Planning at Kentucky Fried Chicken Corporation.
Teresa holds an M.A.T. from the University of Louisville and an M.B.A. from the University of Cincinnati. Her undergraduate work was also completed at the University of Louisville.
Teresa
is the Board President the YMCA and also serves on the board for the
Chamber of Commerce. Professional organizations include the Illinois
Principals Association (IPA) and the National Alliance of Black School
Educators (NABSE).
Teresa is married and has one son. She and her husband reside in Freeport. Her
husband is retired and is also active in the community. He is a Big
Brother with Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Northwest Illinois and
serves on the board of Neighborhood Housing Services (NHS). Their son
is currently teaching middle school in Washington D.C.
